Location: Durbanville Hills, Cape Town
Responsibilities
- Complete training as required;
- Shadow Project Managers, Project Engineers, Field Service and Subsea Engineers in order to gain a fundamental understanding of the operation, inspection and repair of Capital Drilling Equipment;
- Physically participate in carrying out various processes in order to gain a fundamental understanding of how these are performed.
- Manage projects from inception through to delivery; ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures; initially with assistance of management but ultimately unaided. This will include, but will not be limited to: quotation, project execution, procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, reporting, inspection report review, databook generation and submission, oversight, manufacture, quality control and project closeout;
- Responsible for Project Quoting phase. This will include, but will not be limited to:
- Management will pass on an RFQ, then:
- Conduct Project Design and Development
- Gather all info on the scope as inputs
- Identify other inputs, not supplied by the customer
- Generate outputs
- Input vs output gap analysis
- Management review
- Cost project using company process/templates/software
- Draft quote and issue management for approval.
- Responsible for Project Execution phase. This will include, but will not be limited to:
- Management will advise when PO is received for a project, then:
- Review costing and verify no increases or issues
- Request PO’s for any third parties
- Schedule and coordinate third parties and any of their shipping requirements
- Identify any specialist tooling requirements and have these engineered / manufactured / procured
- Meet with Operations Manager and select project team
- Direct Travel Co-Ordinator on requirements for flights, accommodation, and welfare
- Budget per diems and advise Finance Manager
- Draft equipment packing list with Operations Management review
- Coordinate with stores for equipment and consumables requirements
- Coordinate with stores for packing
- Provide draft CIPL to Logistics
- Generate project and QCP using company process/templates/software
- Conduct pre deployment meeting with entire team
- Deploy to project (if/when required) and execute the scope
- Direct tasks to technicians using company process/templates/software
- Report daily (or as per requirement) on progress and update project cost daily
- Identity any non-conformances and report to Quality Department
- Handle any technical queries
- Manage technicians and third parties
- Close out meeting with customer on conclusion of scope
- Process completion notes / delivery notes and time sheets
- Process of Customer Satisfaction note
- Responsible for Project Completion and Closeout. This will include, but will not be limited to:
- Assist finance department with invoicing
- Conduct After Action Review
- Assist to close out any NC’s
- Ensure all documentation packs are provided to the customer within the agreed time frame
- Report effectively to management and Customers.
- Always ensure a safe working environment.
Skills
The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:
- An advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite;
- Excellent written communicator (email; technical report writing; WhatsApp);
- Excellent level of English, both written and verbal;
- Organizational skills; Time Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant technical qualification.
- No experience required, as this is a Junior Position. Vacation or experiential training relevant to the field, would be advantageous.
- Must have Ship Repair, Heavy Engineering or Oil and Gas background
