Location: Durbanville, Western Cape, South Africa (On-site)
The R&D Technician will operate from the Global Riser facility. The position encompasses a fast-track program of knowledge and performance with regards to R&D as well as Global Riser’s systems and processes. The employee will be supervised by Mechanical Engineers, Project Engineers, and Management. He/ she will be an enthusiastic, efficient, self starting, committed individual with an ability to assess and make decisions quickly, who can think practically and innovatively, with an ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibility:
- Complete training as required.
- Shadow the applicable Engineers, in order to gain a fundamental understanding of the R&D requirements & Equipment.
- Perform Engineering R&D testing on Mechanical Equipment (Primary function).
- Perform Quality Control on Equipment.
- Assist Engineers in Admin tasks.
- Assist in the Compilation of Engineering Documents, such as Manuals, Procedures, BOM’s, QCP’s and Works Instructions, Minor/ Basic Manufacturing Drawings.
- Assist in all technical functions when required.
- Carry out a variety of work as directed.
- Carry out equipment set up, packing, repair, maintenance when required.
- Always ensure a safe working environment.
Skills:
The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:
- A good level of English, both written and oral.
- A good knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- Good written communicator (email; technical report writing).
Qualifications and Experience:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) as a minimum.
- No formal tertiary education or experience is required, however a relevant technical qualification (eg N4, N5) would be advantageous.
- Any training and/or experience relevant to the field, would be advantageous
